About Us

The WKU is a 100% subsidiary of the city of Vienna. The WKU was founded in 2002 to project, plan, build and finance the third waste incineration plant (MVA Pfaffenau) and the first biogas plant in Vienna. The first firing of the MVA Pfaffenau was on June 9, 2008. The MVA Pfaffenau was planned and built within only six years.

The tasks of the WKU are:

  1. Projecting, planning, building and financing of facilities for the city of Vienna

  2. Planning services in waste management: waste incineration and treatment, biogas, sewage technology, thermal recycling of wastewater sludge, project planning in plant construction, electrotechnology in plant construction
